MGPS Anti-Fouling Systems - ICAF

Active Prevention of Biofouling and Internal Corrosion in Saltwater Systems

MCP Marine supplies anti-fouling systems from the MGPS (Marine Growth Prevention System) line, featuring ICAF (Impressed Current Anti-Fouling) technology and electrochlorination, using high-purity copper, iron, and aluminum anodes manufactured by K.C. LTD, a global leader in solutions for electrochemical fouling control.

These systems are designed to inhibit the growth of marine organisms and prevent internal corrosion in critical components such as:

  • Sea chests
  • Heat Exchangers
  • Box coolers
  • Saltwater Pipelines and Networks

ICAF Technology – Metal Ions Against Scale and Corrosion

Through the controlled release of copper, iron, and aluminum ions, ICAF systems create an environment that is hostile to the accumulation of marine organisms, preventing colonies from forming on the internal surfaces of hydraulic systems.

  • Copper acts directly against algae, barnacles, and attached microorganisms
  • Iron contributes to the electrochemical stabilization of the system
  • Aluminum enhances the antifouling effect and helps protect against corrosion

High efficiency, low operating costs

Metal ion systems are recognized as one of the most cost-effective and efficient solutions for treating large volumes of saltwater—without the need for continuous chemical additives or frequent cleaning.

This application is recommended for a wide range of vessels and offshore units, including:

  • Tugboats and small vessels
  • FPSOs and fixed platforms
  • VLCCs, oil tankers, and large-tonnage cargo ships
