Accurate diagnosis, on-site repair, and a technical report for three critical onboard systems.
Cathodic protection, fouling control, and drinking water production have one thing in common: when they fail, the problem goes unnoticed until it’s too late and ends up being costly. MCP Marine provides preventive and corrective maintenance for these three systems, whether on board or in port, with a technical team certified by the country’s leading operators.
ICCP — Impressed Current Cathodic Protection
- Diagnosis of alarms, rectifier failures, and out-of-range voltage readings
- Insulation Testing of Anodes, Cables, and Reference Electrodes
- Adjusting the protection setpoint (reference DNV-RP-B401) and verifying automatic mode
- Inspection of the shaft and rudder grounding
- Replacement of components: rectifiers, control boards, electrodes, and anodes
- Modernization and reactivation of legacy systems using Ti-MMO anodes from K.C. LTD (service life of at least 15 years)
MGPS/ICAF — Prevention of Marine Growth
- Measurement of current and power consumption of copper and aluminum/iron anodes
- Diagnosis of the Control Unit and Alarms
- Inspection of seawater intakes, filters, box coolers, and seawater systems
- Replacement of anodes and adjustment based on system flow rate
- Resizing Recommendation When Recurring Embedding Occurs
We service ICCP and MGPS K.C. LTD, Cathelco, Wilson Walton/Corrpro, and any other manufacturer.
Reverse Osmosis Desalination Systems
- Gefico’s official representative in Brazil: technical support, maintenance, and refurbishment of the installed base
- We also serve other reverse osmosis manufacturers, upon request
- Membrane Replacement and Chemical Cleaning
- Pre-filters, high-pressure pumps, valves, and instrumentation
- Verification of the quality of the produced water (TDS/salinity) and operating pressure
- Refurbishment of Idle Units
Preventive or corrective?
| Preventive | Corrective | |
|---|---|---|
| When | Scheduled frequency (e.g., every 6 or 12 months) | After an alarm, failure, or low production |
| Objective | Prevent downtime and extend the service life of components | Restore operation as soon as possible |
| Deliverable | Report with measurements and recommendations | Report detailing the cause, correction, and replaced parts |
Planning
- Appointments must be made at least 30 days in advance
- Spare parts: Order 60 days in advance. Imported anodes take about 40 days.
- Emergencies: 24/7 service

Frequently Asked Questions
How often should I perform maintenance on the ICCP and MGPS?
We recommend at least one complete inspection per year (see Annual Inspection), with interim checks based on the operating profile. Systems with recurring alarms or those operating in warmer waters may require more frequent inspections.
How often should the membranes in the water desalinator be replaced?
It depends on the quality of the feedwater, the prefiltration, and the chemical cleaning. A drop in production and an increase in the salinity of the produced water are the main signs that it is time to replace the membrane.
Do you provide services to vessels outside of Rio de Janeiro?
Yes. We serve customers throughout Brazil and the Americas.
Do you handle emergencies?
Yes, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
