Cathodic protection

Anti-corrosion efficiency for submerged structures in marine and offshore environments

ICCP Systems (Printed Current)

We supply complete impressed current cathodic protection (ICCP) systems with titanium anodes coated with mixed metal oxides (Ti-MMO), manufactured by the renowned K.C. LTD – a global benchmark in anti-corrosion engineering.

All systems are developed under the strictest quality, performance and reliability criteria, and designed to meet the various structural configurations found on vessels and offshore units.

Technical differentials:

  • High durability and low maintenance anodes
  • Compatibility with existing systems
  • Installation without the need for major structural interventions, avoiding prolonged downtime or risks to operation
  • Supply with technical support for installation and commissioning

These features make the ICCP system ideal for cathodic protection upgrades and reactivations, even on assets in operation.

Galvanic Anodes (Aluminum, Zinc and Magnesium)

We offer a complete range of sacrificial anodes in aluminum, zinc and magnesium alloys, designed to meet the protection specifications of hulls, rudders, propellers, tanks and immersed metal structures.

Our anodes follow international standards and are sized according to the vessel’s electrochemical profile, offering efficient and durable passive protection in salt, fresh or brackish water environments.

Propeller shaft grounding

The electric current generated by cathodic protection systems can deviate and circulate through the propulsion system, generating unwanted effects and severe damage when the shaft grounding is poorly dimensioned or improperly installed.

Frequent problems:

  • Wear on propeller tips due to cavitation or galvanic erosion
  • Loss of material in bearings due to circulating current in shaft-bearing contact
  • Electrical discharges through the salt water between propeller and hull, creating a low resistance path for the current

Grounding devices supplied by motor manufacturers often do not provide adequate protection against this phenomenon.

That’s why MCP Marine offers technical assessment, expert advice and complete support for the correct sizing and installation of shaft groundings, guaranteeing full protection of the propulsion system against unwanted electrochemical effects.
